John Ackerman will be reading from his boo All the Air in the Room on Friday, September 13, 7 pm, and will ask the audience to participate throughout the night. Audience members are encouraged to join in improvisational dance or to read their own poetry in response to John’s. John will be staying after the show to chat and sign sheets and books and bodies and brains and hopefully leave a fantastical impression of the mystery of it all.

John Ackerman

John is interested in the underlying, invisible form of reality; the essential nature of, well, nature. His words wander from wonder to anger to assuredness to befuddlement, tracing the path of the human condition. He takes a stance as often as possible as that of the objective observer while at the same time delving deep into emotional realms that are harsh and scary. Some poems are stories, some are musings, some outlandish ideas, others odes, some streams of consciousness, some meticulously pieced together words and tones, often word play, sort of sordid, and usually laughable at one time or another. The words are puzzles, twisting around themes of reality and our experience of it.
