Ten Questions

Do you remember when you first saw yourself as an artist?

Perhaps when people gathered to watch me perform.

Do you have anything you feel compelled now to say about your art?

I hope it doesn’t offend.

Is there an artist that keeps coming back to you for inspiration?

Denis Johnson.

Do you feel you have support from colleagues?

Definitely. The others students in my MFA cohort are happy to give feedback on each other’s work. There is also a local poet named Sparrow who directs a poetry workshop on Thursdays and everyone involved in that is very supportive.

Do you feel removed from the conventional world?

Yes and no. Isolation is isolating, but the outside is just one step away.

What is it like to wake up everyday for you?

Same as it ever was.

What role do you see your art having in society?

I hope it provides laugh, or at least a chuckle. At most, I hope it sparks reflection.

Do you get high from creating?

Yes, it’s very exciting.

What are you not being asked that you’d like to share?

Basil needs lots of water to grow.

When are you most happy?

The evening.
