Curveball
Formed in upstate New York its members are all deeply immersed in music and use this experience to bring a wide and colorful pallet of flavor to their sound. Ranging from everything involving Classical to Hip Hop, Funk to Metal, the end result is both psychedelic and immersive.
William Reinke
Playing drum set since he was 10 years old William
has years of experience behind the kit. Though never
receiving a formal education he was tutored privately for
many years with Bruce Ezmark a touring drummer for the
Commordores. His inspirations early on range from the likes
of John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell and Frank Beard and
resulted in his solid foundation of classic rock and blues. In
more recent years he has branched out into experimental
territory set by the likes of Brian Chippendale of Lightning
Bolt and the groundbreaking phrasing used by modern Jazz
drummer Mark Guiliana. This as well developed interest
into Fela Kuti whos monumental drummer Tony Allen
spawned the genre Afrobeat as we know it has led to
William's unique and fluid voice behind the kit. Which he uses to bring a personal swing and definition to every piece he plays on.
James Hart
`James Hart of Guilderland, New York has been a guitarist since the age of 12, first picking up the acoustic and electric guitar and eventually studying classical guitar at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. He has played throughout the Northeast as a solo and ensemble classical musician, before diving back into the world of electric guitar. James incorporates diverse influences ranging from Andres Segovia and Manuel Barrueco to Trey Anastasio, Carlos Santana and Jerry Garcia. He blends these influences with his interest and love of rock, funk. blues and jazz music to create a unique improvisational style of playing as the guitarist for Curveball.
Liam Murtagh
Born with a passion for music Liam was brought up listening to bands such as Bad Brains and Black Sabbath due to his father. These influences later expanded into Liam's discovery and love of Hip Hop and Rap with heavy influence coming from MF DOOM. Initially only a rapper and producer Liam's need to create original parts he could not sample led him to pick up the bass guitar as well as learn some basic keys. His knowledge of music theory and amazing sense of rhythm has given him a talent beyond his years when playing. With an ear for the improvisational and deep seated love of heavy grooves and tight back beats Liam brings an integral part to the Curveball trio.
