Eric J. Roth

Classical guitarist Eric J Roth will perform a hybrid concert at the Green Kill, a public arts performance and education space, in Kingston, NY on Sunday, October 3, 7pm. The music will be performed on a beautiful, authentic reproduction instrument modeled after one built in 1830. Eric will also provide information about the instrument, repertoire, composers, and history.

The concert will feature music by a variety of composers from the eighteenth century to the present day, including a set of three character pieces by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), the eldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach. The music of this delightfully quirky composer represents an intriguing transition between the Baroque and Classical styles. The program will also include works by the great South American guitarist, Agustín Barrios (1885-1944), the prolific Austro-Hungarian guitarist, Johann Kaspar Mertz (1806-1856) and eclectic American composers Lou Harrison (1917-2003) and Alan Hohvaness (1911-2000), both of whom incorporated influences from Eastern Traditional Music. Eric will also perform some of his own compositions.

The concert will take place as a live, in-person event and will also be broadcast as a livestream event via the Green Kill Facebook Page, which can be found at https://business.facebook.com/229GreenKill/. Reservations for both formats must be made in advance and require a minimum $1 donation.
