Green Kill Performace Policies
Whether you are a viewer or a performer, Green Kill offers quality events which combine livestreaming and live audience seating.
Who and Why
This page contains the Green Kill policies for live stream events.
Dedicated artists who offer originality can schedule performance events at Green kill.
Green Kill uses a peer to peer selection process. Artists, those who have dedicated their lives to their art, are welcome to participate in Green Kill live-streaming events and they may recommend other artists to participate.
Green Kill live stream events is open to musicians, poets, storytellers, and filmmakers. Please visit Green Kill Sessions on Youtube to see the wide variety of events presented by artists at Green Kill.
(Note: Green Kill is not a studio space. There are very good studio spaces for audio and video recording in the Hudson Valley. Green Kill does not offer studio services; however, live-streaming performers may schedule rehearsal time for their GK events at no cost.)
Performers are welcome to have the content to use as they wish. Green Kill publishes the original live stream unaltered.
What
Green Kill events take place on a stage which is broadcast live along with maximum seating for an audience of 30. The Green Kill publicity page, greenkill.substack.com explains that events are livestream productions with audience seating. Eventbrite is used to create a ticket reservation list.
Four professional cameras and a mixing board are used to deliver the live content using livestream software to Youtube. Green Kill maintains a Green Kill Sessions page on Youtube where excerpts from the livestreams are made public after events with your consent.
The Green Kill stage, sixteen feet wide by seven feet deep is surrounded on three curtains. The back central curtain is a black projection screen. The surface of the stage is theater grade black flooring and the stage lighting is achieved with 12 LED lights and in the case of green screening and additional 8 green screen lights.
Besides traditional lighting Green Kill offers green screening which may be still images or videos or ultra short through projection across the backdrop of the stage using video files. Green Kill is now incorporating TouchDesigner technology.
Green Kill has a professional in-house drum kit.
When
Live streaming at Green Kill takes place in the evening for one hour in most cases, typically from 8 to 9 PM. Live streaming make take place any night of the week. You can schedule an event by writing to 229greenkill@greenkill.org.
The YouTube Green Kill Sessions channel is the platform used to present the live streams. Broadcasts are 1920 x 1080 in stereo.

How
All live streaming events are advertised by at greenkill.substack.com and, Green Kill Facebook events page and on eventbrite.com. Performers must submit brief statements and an image or two for promotional purposes. Additional information, links, embedded videos may be included. Substack sends the promotions to subscribers which include regional and NYC press.
Streams are listed promoted through Green Kill Sessions on youtube where people can set a reminder. Potential may buy a ticket on eventbrite.com.
Audience Information

The greenkill.substack.com page contains a link to eventbrite where you will access your event link or reserve a live audience ticket. Some events are made available for a ticket price between 5 and 15 dollars depending on the event.
There are two categories for events on Eventbrite, one for those who want to just watch the event on YouTube and the other is for those who would like to be part of the live audience to watch the production of the live stream event. Those that opt to be in the audience will also receive a live stream link as well. Audience seating is limited to 30. Seats must be reserved on Eventbrite. A ticket holder list will be at the door and those that are not on it will be turned away.
Audience ticket buyers are welcome to bring drinks.
Perfomer Scheduling and Pre-performance Set-up
Performers should arrive 1 hour before live streaming for a sound and lighting review.
Live streams remain unlisted on YouTube can be accessed by subscribing to greenkill.substack.com for 5 dollars a month or 30 dollars a year. An excerpt from the performance is made public on the Green Kill Sessions YouTube page. Live stream files are available to the performers free of charge providing their events make money. If there is no money raised for an event, Green Kill charges 30 dollars for performance clips.

If an event requires a rehearsal, the artist may reserve one in the space for free during the day.
Artists may schedule single or semi- regular or regular events. Every artist is in control of his or her event. Not third party scheduling is considered. Green kill is producer of the event but the content of the event becomes the ownership of the artist and files are available by request.
Production —lighting, camera work and sound recording— is fully under the authority and direction of Green Kill.

Are you a practicing artist? Green Kill serves, outsider and established artists with a life-long dedication to their work, and an original vision.
Are you prepared to live stream for one hour?
Can you reach out to your friends and colleagues to promote your live stream. Green Kill uses a donation process of Eventbrite. The money made is split evenly between participants and Green Kill?
Do you understand that it costs money to maintain the livestream program and that revenue generation is an integral part of the process?
Promotion
Can you send a statement and photos in a timely manner that adequately describes your performance?
Note that we monitor the eventbrite page. If there are no views for your event the up to the night before the event, your event will be cancelled.
Pre Arrival Requirement
Do you understand that live-streaming requires sound capture and that setting up the mics for recording is of primary importance?
Can you provide a list of your equipment so that the sound engineer can make and assessment of what is needed to adequately capture sound form your performance?
Pre Event Sound Check
Can you arrive and hour and a half before showtime and be able to set up for sound and lighting checks within 30 minutes?
Do you understand that livestream sound and room sound are different and that our objective is to help in making sure both are satisfactory?
Will you participate in a sound check review to better guarantee the live stream audience will be getting the best possible sound?
Do you understand the production including sound and lighting are fully under the control of the production staff?
Post Performance
Events generate revenue for artists through the livestream. Ticket sales are spilt evenly among the participants. All events generate funds for this purpose through Eventbrite.
The total money raised is divided by the number of performers at and event plus Green Kill. For example if there are two performers on an evening the total amount raised for the event will be split three ways—the two performers and Green Kill. Green Kill proceeds are used to pay utilities taxes and upkeep of the Green Kill space. The amount of money a performer receives increases based on their personal outreach for the event.
Artist Role
Every “act” is permitted three comps.
The important thing for artists is to encourage people to come to their live events. Artists also have the benefit of free content from their livestreams. Artist who hold events may offer three complementary tickets and must confirm this in advance.
A great deal of money has been invested to make the Green Kill live stream program possible.
To create this livestream program, there are costs involved for upkeep, taxes, supplies, equipment maintenance.
Artists who perform receive a quality live stream which they can use to further their opportunities along with exposure and an opportunity to play. If there is no money raised by the lives tream, the movie is 20 dollars.
Green Kill is building an internal list to promote all events. This list is growing, the interest in Green Kill Sessions on YouTube is growing. There is real opportunity through live streaming for artist’s to be compensated. Creating opportunity for artists is the sole motivation to create Green Kill.
Green Kill has the discretion to cancel events that show no computer hit activity on Substack or Eventbrite. That decision would be communicated the night before events.
Please reach out to you communities to attend the livestreams for a small donation. That donation money is split evenly amongst the participants. Without funding Green Kill cannot continue. It’s important for performers to understand that their support and participation keeps the live-streaming program here for all performers.
