Mark Donato
Mark Donato has been called "pathologically prolific." It's true he writes a lot of songs, but it's not entirely pathological. His 6th full-length record, At the literal crack of dawn, spills over with 15 tunes ruminating on the joy wrapped sneakily in the most painful situations. His band -- which includes several of Hudson Valley's finest musicians -- makes a lively rock 'n' roll that extends exponentially the melodies and rhythms carrying the songs. It's something you can sink into for the foreseeable future and beyond.
Making up Donato's band are: John Burdick (Sweet Clementines) on electric guitar; Mark Lerner (Rosine) on bass; and Eric Parker (Joe Cocker, Stevie Winwood, etc. etc. etc.) on drums.
