Edward Berkise

Table Dancing Bull with onlookers in matching outfits.

My series of Bull paintings depicts human imagination. Each painting has a life of its own. You, as the viewer can feel and imagine whatever you want. I found myself outside the process of creating but on completion was inside the fantasy image.

My work is a constant journey of learning and exploring. Having lot's of fun!

Karen Capobianco

Image #2  ( a plant print) is one of the new prints from plant tannins . I have been working on this new process  for the past six months and this one  is from one of the first successful printing . It is made without chemical mordants and yet is (supposedly) just as  archival

My work deals with the environment and the climate crisis. Mankind's Anthropocentric viewpoint mistakenly negates nature’s intrinsic intelligence and in turn disregards alternative forms of communication. By separating ourselves from nature we have selfishly excused using resources ignorantly creating an imbalance which subsequently risks our own annihilation. Nature is complex and imbued with powers beyond our limited comprehension. My work takes a pause and re-evaluating dynamic forces we take for granted. The work seeks to highlight natural phenomena in nature and realms beyond what we can visually witness, but also to act as an ‘Intercessory’ allowing a voice to what we can not hear or understand particularly in regards to our impact on the planet , ecosystem and the race for our own survival. For me not only is the message important but also the means of delivery,Therefore I strive to use natural, recyclable materials as well as sustainable processes to compose my pieces.

“Do The Doo,” 2022  4.5" x 5.5”, Digital images printed on Japanese paper, India ink, powdered graphite, wax on wood panel. This is part of a newer approach I've been investigating by using black and white or minimal color, as opposed to using a lot of color with some of my other pieces. The idea is to move the focus from the face, and to see the image as a composition rather than a literal description of the person.

I work with image, process, and a variety of materials in order to push the confines of art making to reinvent, rather than reproduce an image. Allowing an idea to emerge organically through curiosity, I manipulate the materials to create unexpected results that distort and redefine. I start with something expected, and end up with something mysterious, aiming for singular or unique outcomes within a defined image. Taking a painterly approach gives me the option for discovery by welcoming chance occurrences to create a new way to see a familiar object.
