About Green Kill
Green Kill was founded by lifelong artist David Schell and his partner, Yuriko Sasamoto, after they moved to Kingston, New York, with a dream of creating a new kind of arts space in the Hudson Valley—and that dream became Green Kill.
Welcome to Green Kill, a creative hub for writers, performers, and visual artists. You’ll find us at 229 Greenkill Avenue in Kingston, New York. You can reach us by phone at 347-689-2323, by email at 229greenkill@greenkill.org, read our updates on greenkill.substack.com, or watch performances on our YouTube channel, Green Kill Sessions.
Green Kill welcomes artists of all kinds—both emerging voices and seasoned professionals—who share a deep commitment to their craft and a passion for originality.
What makes Green Kill special is its artist-driven, peer-to-peer model. Artists who take part often invite and recommend other artists, creating a thriving network built on trust, respect, and shared creativity. As Green Kill’s community grows, so do the opportunities for its members and the space’s reputation as a destination for diverse, high-quality art.
This inclusive approach to supporting the arts is made possible through a partnership between Green Kill, LLC, and the national fiscal sponsor for the arts, Fractured Atlas.
Green Kill is set to roll out exciting new programming in 2026 designed to inspire and engage the art community. The year will introduce a dynamic Space Rental Program and an innovative exhibition program, all while continuing the popular Livestream Program that connects audiences near and far.
Green Kill Space Rental Program—Beginning February 1, 2026
Green Kill offers a cozy and affordable 800-square-foot art space in Kingston, NY, for artists to create, rehearse, or meet. Through its partnership with Peerspace—the “Airbnb for venues”—you can rent this space Monday through Thursday for $30 an hour. The room fits up to 40 people and comes fully equipped with lighting, outlets, climate control, and a restroom. Rentals are limited to art-related uses (no hands-on studio classes). It’s a great way for artists to access a professional environment without breaking the bank. Learn more.
Friday Night at Green Kill: Showcase Your Art!—Beginning March 1, 2026
Starting March 2026, Green Kill invites visual artists to be part of Friday Night at Green Kill, a lively exhibition program where creativity meets community. Each artist can display one artwork (painting, print, or photograph) up to 30” x 60”. To join, send an image of your piece, a short artist statement, and a participation request to 229greenkill@greenkill.org. If accepted, your work will be featured online and exhibited during first and third Friday events—with up to 15 artists per night. There’s no entry fee, and you can sell your artwork (up to $2,000) with a 30% gallery commission on sales. Come enjoy an evening of art, open mic performances, and good company! Learn more.
Green Kill Livestream Events—Beginning Feb 1, 2026.
Musicians and performers can shine on stage—and online—through Green Kill’s one-hour livestream shows. Performances happen Friday through Sunday evenings (except the first and third Fridays). Each event features a small in-person audience (30 seats) and global livestream access.
Performers are expected to help promote their shows, arrive early for sound checks, and send in equipment lists ahead of time. The venue provides a full sound and lighting setup, including drums, amps, a digital piano, and livestream equipment.
Earnings from ticket sales are split among performers, the venue, and the sound engineer—so promotion and turnout matter! Green Kill shares event highlights on YouTube and Substack, giving performers lasting, professional-quality footage to use for promotion. Learn more.
